The MTA Real Estate Department leases, licenses, and occasionally offers for sale, a variety of retail, vacant, and industrial properties. The most common bid solicitation process is the Request for Proposals (RFP). RFPs are issued by MTA Real Estate in-house staff, and, for select properties, through real estate brokers. All RFPs are listed on this website.

The RFP provides information on the available property or location, explains how to prepare a proposal, and outlines the terms of prospective leases or licenses. The RFP describes improvements that the operator of a business is expected to make to the property as a condition of the agreement. As part of an RFP, a site visit will generally be arranged to permit the prospective proposers to view the property or premises being offered. The Real Estate Department seeks proposals from as many potential operators as possible, evaluates all of the proposals submitted, negotiates terms and conditions, and concludes the transaction.
MTA invites all interested parties to submit a proposal in response to an announcement of an RFP. The specific requirements of any RFP and the documents required in support of any proposal will be detailed in the RFP information packet which is available on-line via the links shown above.
All inquiries are encouraged, and the MTA welcomes the participation of minorities, women, and other disadvantaged groups in the business opportunities available on MTA property. The
MTA Department of Diversity and Civil Rights at 646-252-1369 is available to provide assistance to applicants. No proposer will be subject to discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, or disability.
